Special information for authors concerning publishing fee When AUTEX undertook the decision at the end of 2001 to resume publication of the Autex Research Journal (ARJ), the Association decided that as a promotional exercise during the initial period, no publishing fee should be requested of the authors. This decision was duly implemented, even all the papers published are freely accessible on the Internet, which has definitely been advantageous for the authors, as it increases the opportunity to inform the worldwide scientific community of their research achievements. The previously planned two-year promotion was then extended up until the present moment, during which time the editorial expenses have been totally covered by AUTEX. However, the modest funds which AUTEX has hitherto been able to allocate for publishing do not allow us to increase publishing activity. Over time, it has appeared that the period between the editorial office receiving an article and publishing it in a given issue of the journal has increased year by year, and at present may even exceed one year. What is more, the majority of the authors are not been affiliated to universities which are AUTEX members, and which could pay their contribution to the common AUTEX fund. These are the reasons why, starting from 1 September 2006, AUTEX has decided to introduce a publishing fee of €40+VAT per journal page, a decision which has been implemented. If the first author is affiliated to an AUTEX university, the fee is diminished to €15+VAT. The Technical University of Lodz is VAT (Value Added Tax) registered and that means we have to charge our customers VAT (currently 22%) on top of the original price. The VAT registration is not optional, we are obliged to do this by Polish law. The fee should be paid after the reviewing procedure is positively
finalised, and the article cleared for publishing in a given
issue. At that time, the author, after receiving an invoice from
the editorial office, should pay the fee to the following bank
account: The author's decision to pay the publishing fee should be confirmed by the first author, together with signing a "Transfer of publishing rights" form, and at the same time the payer should be indicated. All articles delivered up to 31 August 2006 will be processed under
the conditions which have applied up to the present, that is,
without any publishing fee. | ||
